Conference

“We tell ourselves stories in order to live.”

 - Joan Didion

The cognitive psychologist Jerome Bruner found that we are 22 times more likely to remember a fact when it’s wrapped in a story. What if you could harness this power to benefit yourself and your organization?

In the past decade, “storytelling” has become something of a buzzword. But stories are hardly a fad; they are one of our most ancient methods of cultural creation, communication, and connection. Science tells us that stories affect our bodies — causing our palms to sweat, our eyes to blink faster, and our brain waves to synchronize with the storyteller’s.

This year’s YNPN conference is designed to help nonprofit professionals unleash the power of stories in their personal and professional lives. From nonprofit leaders, communications experts, and storytelling practitioners, you’ll learn to:

  • Capture people’s attention through storytelling

  • Tell your own story to advance your career

  • Use stories for nonprofit marketing and fundraising

  • Share client stories with respect and integrity

  • Build connections through sharing and listening

  • Celebrate diverse voices and perspectives
